At Nevermore Press, we look for novels and works of creative nonfiction, primarily by Nova Scotian and Atlantic Canadian writers. We believe that everyone must begin somewhere, sometime, and we look to encourage new voices. Our aim is simple: to publish high quality writing by strong storytellers, stories that need to be told. We seek writing that provides insight into the human condition of Atlantic Canadians, specifically, and into the universal condition of the struggle of what it means to be a person. We believe that storytellers are the savers of souls.

We accept submissions by email. Please address all email submissions to amullins@nevermorepress.ca.
We also accept hardcopy submissions addressed to:

Assistant Editor

Hardcopies will be returned only if accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped return envelope.
All submissions will receive an email notification of receipt.

We do not publish children’s picture books at this time.

Submissions must include

  • A brief cover letter, no more than one-page, with the title of your manuscript, current mailing address, phone number and email address.

  • Please indicate your intended audience. We are interested in any ideas you may have about promoting and marketing your work.

  • Any writing experience, previous publications, or review comments by other authors who have read your work.

  • Please include a brief synopsis of the manuscript, including details about characters, plot, points of view, and a complete manuscript word count. For creative nonfiction, include a listing of chapters and an explanation of why this story is compelling.

  • The first two or three chapters of the manuscript, but no more than 12,000 words. Please do not send entire manuscripts, unless requested to do so.

  • We accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately if your manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere.

We are interested only in completed works. No book proposals, please. All submissions must be in a Word doc formatted to 8.5 × 11-inch paper with one-inch margins all around, in Times New Roman, 12 pt. type, double-spaced and paginated.

Reviewing submitted work takes time. We read all submissions carefully. Please allow eight to twelve weeks for a response.

Unfortunately, we cannot take the time to comment on submissions that we do not accept for publication. We do, however, offer manuscript consultation services; contact Ernie for more info.
